TITLE: Metals for Clean Energy: Pathways to solving Europe’s raw materials challenge
The lecture will focus on the central role non-ferrous metals play in building Europe’s clean technology value chains and meeting the EU’s 2050 climate-neutrality goal. It will examine the goal of achieving resource security and reducing strategic dependencies for energy transition metals, through a demand, supply, and sustainability assessment of the Green Deal and its resource needs.
Findings of the 2022 study, will be complemented with an overview of the current EU regulatory landscape on the Critical Raw Materials, batteries, chemical, products and waste policies that needs maximum coherence to secure optimal conditions for the competitiveness, long-term investments and maintaining metals production in the EU.
