TITLE: Automated design optimization of advanced 3D-printed heat exchangers
Heat exchangers (HEX) are critical and indispensable components in thermal energy conversion systems in all industrial sectors and numerous end‐user applications. A further increase in their efficiency could save a lot of energy worldwide. Additive manufacturing processes widen their possible geometries.
The IAMHEX-project aims at the automated design of optimized heat exchangers with innovative 3D-printed heat transfer surfaces, while ensuring their manufacturability from the start. The IAMHEX-project targets a 15 to 30 % increase in energy efficiency for the same overall heat exchanger volume or material use.
