TITLE: Hybrid Laser Powder Bed Fusion of extrusion dies in M789 maraging steel

 

Deceuninck and 3D Systems present a case study of improving production efficiency and reliability by combining DMP Flex 350 metal printing technology with traditional subtractive manufacturing, performed withing the framework of the SIM Metamould project. A foam nozzle for a thermal reinforcement profile was printed directly on a die plate with 3D Systems Hybrid printing technology, combining 2 different materials: M303 with M789. This presentation shows the challenges and opportunities of the hybrid printing technology.  The foam nozzle was produced successfully and the extrusion die is currently used in the Deceuninck production plant in Gits, showing the full  potential of this printing technology.
